I have lost count how many times we have visited family near Lockerbie and have never been to Eskrigg.
Pleased you saw a Redstart, Gem. Super looking birds. I have had them in East Anglia this year but hope there might be some around Spurn when we attend Migfest.
It’s a very easy to miss reserve! But well worth seeking out.
The man that looks after it does put food out every morning - when I was there a few years ago a red squirrel came within a few metres of me. So it’s great for seeing all the birds and wildlife up close, but I did wonder if it was maybe too much food going out. Not sure if he still does it to the same extent these days, but the feeders were certainly full!
Oh let me know what you see if you do go. And if the sun’s out, do have a poke around the picnic area at the start, I’ve never seen so many butterflies, it’s magical
