Poor garden warbler. Latin name Sylvia borin. Borin by name and borin by nature.
One highlight. For me this week was hearing my first nightingales of the season. Both within 100 mtrs of leaving Manningtree train station car park to walk to Flatford Mill. More on that later.
Oh fantastic. Yes I have a few posts of yours to catch up on. And I’ve never heard a nightingale, so I’m looking forward to reading more about them.
I did hear the first lesser whitethroat of the season a few days ago - I’m always relieved when I’ve actually remembered the song of a seasonal visitor.
Two mornings in a row...a Carolina chickadee has been my alarm clock. The birdsong has definitely kicked up, and the tree swallows are defended their nest box selection the only way they know how: like Top Gun fighter pilots. I am not in the UK. So our warblers look a little different...but the antics you describe sound about par for the course. The newest summer bird that I hear singing that I did not 5 days ago is the Eastern Towhee. --Central New Jersey, USA.

Well done on the lesser whitethroat. I had my first for the year same day as nightingale.
